Golfers use a variety of clubs to help them navigate a course.
However, there are restrictions on how many clubs a player can use. We know this.
How many clubs can you fit in a bag of golf?
Any number of clubs up to 14 can be in your bag.
You do not need to carry a minimum number of clubs for a single round.
Can you carry more than 14 golf clubs in your bag?
It is against the rules to carry more than 14 golf clubs. This can lead to serious consequences during your round.
You can be penalized if you are found to have more than fourteen clubs. The penalty imposed depends on the game type.
Two penalty options are available:
MATCH PLAY
You will receive a deduction if you use an additional club in match play.
STROKE PLAY
The penalties for stroke play are more severe. Two strokes will be applied if you use a club extra. The maximum number in four strokes.
A player’s bag containing more than the allowed number of clubs occurred during the final round of the 2001 Open Championship held at Royal Lytham.
1991 Master Ian Woosnam, the champion of the 1991 Masters was tied for the lead going into the final round. However, a mistake by his caddie caused him to pack 15 instead of 14 clubs.
Woosnam was penalized by two strokes and finished tied for third place, four shots behind the winner David Duval.
What clubs come in a bag of golf?
It is not possible to have a set of clubs in your bag. However, most players would have something similar:
Putter
Three types of woods (for instance, a driver wood, 5 wood, and 7 wood).
8 irons

All major golfing associations have written the rule into their regulations. In the R&A rules, it is stated that:
If you have more than 14 golf clubs in your bag, then start the round.
Have more than fourteen clubs in the round.
The player may increase the number of clubs he/she has in the round, up to 14 clubs.
