Virat’s Farewell: Sensational Quit as India’s Test Captain After Shock South Africa Series Loss, Expressing His Emotions in a Heartfelt Statement.

Virat Kohli has shockingly quit as India’s Test Cricket Captain.

In 2014, the world-class batsman took over this role from MS Dhoni.

A day after the series loss against South Africa by a score of 2-1, he issued a sincere statement to confirm his resignation.

Kohli’s combined 273million social media followers wrote: “It has been seven years of hardwork, toil, and relentless perseverance each day to lead the team in a positive direction.”

“I have done my job in the most honest way possible and I’m sure that nothing has been left out.”

“Everything must come to an end at some point and, for me as the Test Captain of India, that time is now.

“There were many ups and downs, but there was never a lack in effort or belief.

“I’ve always believed that I should give my all in whatever I do. If I’m not able to do this, then I know I’m doing the wrong thing.

“I am honest with my team and cannot lie to them.”

Kohli is India’s most-successful Test captain.

His leadership led to the team winning 40 of their 68 games – the fourth best record in Test Captain history.

This included ending a long 71-year wait to win a series in Australia, and winning 2-1 against England last summer. Covid then controversially ended the tour.

India, which is now the top-ranked Test cricket team worldwide, reached the finals of the first World Test Championship in 2008, but lost out to New Zealand.

Ashok Malhotra, an ex-Indian batter, believes Kohli “jumped before he’s pushed”.

Kolhi, who was the captain of the white ball side since 2017, clashed last year with the BCCI after he resigned as Twenty20 captain following the disastrous World Cup.

‘TRUE CHAMPION’
The BCCI removed him from the one-day captaincy because it did not want to have two captains for shorter formats.

Many former India Cricket stars have sent their support to the fiery Kohli.

Yuvraj Singh: “It has been an amazing journey, King Kohli!” Few have achieved what you have.

“Each time, you gave your all and played as a champion. You will only grow stronger! “Onwards and upwards!”

Suresh Raina said: “I respect Virat’s decision even though I am also shocked by his sudden decision.” I can only praise him for all he’s done for Indian cricket and the world.

India’s next test matches will be at home against Sri Lanka. The series will consist of two matches in February and march.

BCCI has not yet confirmed who will replace Kohli as captain.
